Welcome to Ships of State Studio!
I have had a pencil in my hand since I was old enough to remember. I am a self-taught artist who loves drawing the great ocean liners of the past and capturing the glorious heyday of transatlantic passenger travel.
My parents introduced me to the Titanic when I was 10 years old. Since then I have done countless drawings of the famous transatlantic liners, many of whose names we fondly remember: Lusitania, Mauretania, Olympic, Carpathia, Normandie, and others. I have also tried my hand at some of the world's great warships - from the mighty battlecruiser H.M.S. Hood to the formidable German battleship Bismarck - and the classic freighters of the Great Lakes, such as the ill-fated Edmund Fitzgerald.
After a 10-year hiatus, I have returned to my craft and brought with me much valuable learning and new techniques from fellow fine artists around the world. I am thrilled to embark on this new part of my journey and look forward to presenting some exciting subjects. Here, you will find fascinating and unique views of some of the great ships of the past.
